common reading in the Times

August 9, 2007

Whoa, I got quoted in The New York Times! Tamar Lewin, who covers higher ed, saw my list of common reading programs and the report that Andi Twiton did last J-term and so we chatted last week. Of course, like everyone who gets quoted in the paper, I had that “huh, did I say that?” feeling. But still, it’s neat.

I also learned from the reporter that my list is waaaay incomplete, so if you know of a college common reading program, drop me a line at work (fister at gac.edu) and I’ll add it to the list.

true confessions

I wrote a guest post for the lively crime fiction blog, Poe’s Deadly Daughters – “When We Were Orphaned.” Yes, that is a play on Kazuo Ishiguro’s title. Maybe my next theme song should be his more recent title, “Never Let Me Go.”

Why not?

I have for quite some time maintained a list of reviews posted monthly, but lately I thought it might make more sense to post them in the style of a blog. I also have thought it might be fun to have a place where I could pull together the various threads of my life just for the heck of it. So here it is. My blog.
